Full Body LED Light Therapy is a revolutionary treatment designed to stimulate skin rejuvenation, reduce inflammation, and promote overall well-being using light-emitting diode (LED) technology. This non-invasive therapy harnesses the power of different light wavelengths to penetrate the skin at varying depths, targeting both the surface and deeper layers of tissue. At Cosmetic Nurses Australia, we offer a full-body LED treatment, whether you’re looking to boost your skin’s appearance, assist in reducing inflammation, or assist in promote healing.
LED Light Therapy is a scientifically-backed method used to treat a range of skin concerns including acne, fine lines, and uneven skin tone. It also enhances circulation, reduces muscle soreness, and accelerates healing, making it ideal for both cosmetic and therapeutic purposes.
Before undergoing your Full Body LED Light Therapy session, there are a few simple steps to follow to ensure you achieve the best possible results:
Hydrate Well: Make sure to drink plenty of water before your appointment to keep your skin hydrated and maximize the treatment’s effectiveness.
Avoid Heavy Makeup: On the day of your treatment, avoid wearing makeup or heavy skincare products as these may interfere with the penetration of light into the skin.
Shave or Trim Hair: If you’re targeting areas with body hair, we recommend shaving or trimming prior to your session to ensure the LED light can work effectively on the skin.
Limit Sun Exposure: It’s best to avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 48hours and two weeks if sunburnt before your treatment to prevent skin sensitivity.
Consultation: If you are new to LED therapy, our expert practitioners will conduct a consultation to assess your skin type and discuss any specific concerns you may have.
Your Full Body LED Light Therapy session will be carried out in a relaxing, comfortable environment. Here’s what to expect:
Preparation: You’ll be asked to remove any clothing that might interfere with the treatment. We’ll provide a private, comfortable space for your treatment.
LED Panel Application: The therapy will begin with you lying comfortably surrounded by LED lights. The panels emit a variety of light wavelengths—red, and near-infrared light—to target different skin layers and specific concerns.
Relaxation Period: The treatment typically lasts between 20 minutes. During this time, you can simply relax while the light works to stimulate collagen production, increase circulation, and promote healing. The LED light is painless and gentle, and you will experience no downtime afterward.
Post-Treatment Care: Once the session is complete, you can resume your regular activities. There is no recovery period required, and no need for any post-treatment downtime however we do ask that you avoid direct sun exposure for two weeks post treatments.
Improved Skin Texture and Tone: Full Body LED Light Therapy enhances collagen and elastin production, leading to smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
Reduces Acne and Blemishes: The red and infra red light effectively targets inflammation, helping to reduce breakouts and promote clearer skin.
Reduces Pain and Inflammation: Near-infrared LED light helps to alleviate muscle soreness, joint pain, and inflammation by increasing blood circulation and speeding up the healing process.
Promotes Healing: Whether you’re recovering from a skin injury, surgical procedure, or physical strain, Full Body LED Therapy accelerates the body’s natural healing processes, helping to heal damaged tissue faster.
Boosts Skin Hydration: This treatment promotes the retention of moisture in the skin, leaving you with soft, smooth, and hydrated skin.
Anti-Aging Effects: Red LED light stimulates the production of collagen, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time, giving you a more youthful glow.
Relaxing Experience: The soothing, non-invasive nature of the treatment makes it an incredibly relaxing experience, providing stress relief while promoting skin and body health.
While LED Light Therapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment for most people, there are certain conditions and factors that may make it unsuitable. Please review the following contraindications before undergoing LED Light Therapy. If any of these apply to you, it’s important to consult with your practitioner beforehand.
1. Pregnancy
The safety of LED Light Therapy during pregnancy has not been extensively studied. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid this treatment while pregnant.
2. Photosensitivity Disorders
Individuals with conditions that cause heightened sensitivity to light, such as lupus, polymorphous light eruption, or other photosensitivity-related conditions, may experience adverse reactions. These individuals should refrain from LED therapy.
3. Active Cancer or Cancer Treatment
Those currently undergoing cancer treatment (e.g., chemotherapy or radiation therapy) or individuals with active cancer should avoid LED Light Therapy. This treatment may interfere and conflict with medications.
4. Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders
For individuals with epilepsy or seizure disorders, LED Light Therapy could potentially trigger a seizure due to the presence of flashing or pulsing light during the treatment. It is important to discuss any history of seizures with your healthcare provider before undergoing treatment.
5. Open Wounds or Skin Infections
If you have any active skin infections, being treated with antibiotics LED Light Therapy should be avoided, due to conflicts with certain antibiotic therapies.
6. Melasma or Hyperpigmentation
People with melasma or a history of hyperpigmentation may experience flare-ups when exposed to certain wavelengths of light. Caution is advised, and it’s recommended to consult with a practitioner before starting treatment.
7. Photosensitizing Medications
Certain medications can increase skin sensitivity to light, such as antibiotics, acne treatments (e.g., isotretinoin), and antifungal medications. If you are taking photosensitizing drugs, consult your doctor to see if LED Light Therapy is appropriate for you.
8. Excessive Sun Exposure or Recent Tanning
If you’ve been in the sun for prolonged periods or have recently used tanning beds, it’s recommended to wait at least 48 hours before having LED Light Therapy. Sunburned skin or recent tanning may be too sensitive for light therapy and a two week wait period is recommended.

If you have an active outbreak of herpes simplex virus (cold sores), especially around the lips or face, LED Light Therapy should be avoided. Wait for the outbreak to heal before proceeding with the treatment.

Individuals with certain autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus, may experience heightened sensitivity to light treatments. Consult with a healthcare provider to determine whether LED Light Therapy is safe for you.
11. Light Sensitivity from Systemic Conditions
Conditions like porphyria or other light-sensitive conditions may make LED therapy unsuitable, as the light could trigger an adverse reaction.
12. Minors (Under 18)
LED Light Therapy is generally not recommended for individuals under 18 without parental consent and appropriate medical supervision. Consultation with a healthcare professional is essential before proceeding with treatment for minors.
If you are unsure whether any of the above contraindications apply to you, it is essential to speak with a qualified practitioner. During your consultation, our team will assess your medical history, skin type, and overall health to ensure that LED Light Therapy is safe and effective for you.
By being mindful of these contraindications and sharing your full health history with your practitioner, you can help ensure a safe and beneficial treatment experience.
If your medical history changes at any time during the course of your treatments it is essential to notify your practitioner, even if you consider the change to be trivial.
While Full Body LED Light Therapy is non-invasive and has little to no downtime, taking care of your skin post-treatment will help enhance and prolong the benefits:
Hydrate: After your session, drink plenty of water to help flush toxins and keep your skin hydrated.
Gentle Skincare Routine: Use gentle skincare products following your treatment. Avoid harsh exfoliants, active ingredients (like retinol), or strong acids for 24 hours to allow your skin to recover.
Avoid Sun Exposure: It’s recommended to avoid direct sun exposure for 24-48 hours post-treatment to ensure your skin remains protected and to prevent any potential irritation.
Avoid Intense Workouts: To prevent excessive sweating, which can clog pores and potentially affect the results of the treatment, try to avoid intense exercise for the first 24 hours.
Follow-Up Sessions: For the best results, we recommend a series of Full Body LED sessions. The frequency will depend on your specific skin goals, which we will discuss with you during your consultation.
